Plants vs Zombies Walkthrough Part 2

The Puzzles

Vase-breaker:

By breaking a yard full of vases, you will uncover plants and zombies. Plants must be placed in the ground as fast as possible, as they disappear quickly. Use the randomly generated plants to create a strong force against the randomly chosen zombies.

Zombie Style:

It is time for you to play as the zombies. This game is not timed, so players can come up with better strategies. Different zombies will have to be purchased just like you would with the plants, the more resilient or useful zombies will cost more sun power, so players must budget just as in the standard games.

The Zombies

American Football zombie:

This zombie has a helmet and padding to add to his defense, making him harder to kill. However, as his helmet is metal it can be taken by Magnet Shroom.

Backup Dancer zombie:

An enemy which is easy to kill, but their problem comes in their numbers.

Balloon zombie:

Not a strong zombie, but this one "flies" and therefore, passes over all defenses. His balloon can be popped by the Cactus or Cats Tail. This then makes him into a regular zombie.

Buckethead zombie:

A tougher version of the Conehead zombie, it will take five times more firepower to bring him down. However, a Magnet Shroom can steal the bucket from its head, and just turn him into a regular zombie.

Bungee zombie:

This zombie is hanging somewhere over the level. The zombie drops down and steals plants from your defense, or even sometimes drops off a new zombie on the lawn.

Catapult zombie:

This zombie plays a long-distance game, it launches its attack instead of coming up to you, this zombie can be dangerous if you do not have the right defense setup.

Conehead zombie:

Just like a regular zombie, but the cone acts as extra defense, which means he will require twice the firepower to kill.

Dancing zombie:

A troublesome zombie, who will call out four backup dancers, they will appear from all directions.

Digger zombie:

A tunneling zombie, this zombie will go underneath your defenses and attack from the rear.

Dolphin Rider zombie:

The aquatic version of the Pole Vaulting zombie, excect this time there is a dolphin zombie and the rider as well.

Dr. Zomboss:

The head zombie only joins in action at the final level. He fights with fire and ice and even orders slews of Bungee zombies to attack.

Ducky Tube zombie:

Another weakling, this zombie is strictly aquatic and is only seen in the pool.

Flag zombie:

The flag zombie is the head of every large mob of zombies. If you see one of these Zombies, then it is a strong indicator that you should up your arsenal.

Gargantuar:

A powerhouse zombie, who carries a little zombie on his back. In addition to being exceptionally strong, very destructive, and extremely hard to kill, this zombie throws the little zombie at plants when he is running low on energy!

Imp zombie:

Gargantuar's little friend is exceedingly weak, but when he is thrown it goes over the plants and this way he can damage from behind enemy lines.

Jack-in-the-Box zombie:

An exploding and quick-moving zombie. The Jack-in-the-Box is the catalyst for explosions. However, with the aid of the Magnet Shroom, he is easily disarmed.

Ladder zombie:

A crafty zombie which places a ladder at the first plant it meets and climbs right over. Once again the Magnet Shroom can steal the ladder.

Newspaper zombie:

If plants take away his newspaper, then the zombie will quickly charge at your whole defense row. It is always best to kill a newspaper zombie quickly.

Pogo zombie:

A hopping zombie, which can leap over all of your plants. However, Magnet Shrooms can steal the pogo stick.

Pole vaulting zombie:

A sporty zombie who vaults himself over the first plant he meets, which means he will evade attack (except the Tall Nut).

Regular zombie:

The most standard Zombie you will come across, and therefore, makes it the easiest to kill.

Screen Door zombie:

This zombie carries a screen door to protect himself from any attack. However, Fume Shrooms are able to penetrate the screen, then the Magnet Shrooms can take away the door frame.

Snorkel zombie:

A Zombie that makes its attacks from underwater, this zombie is a replica of the Digger Zombie (if it had a snorkel!).

Zombie Bobsled Team:

The aftermath of the ice left behind by the Zomboni brings out four sledders. As with the Backup Dancers, they are weak, but there is always four of them at a time.

Zombie Yeti:

A nocturnal and rare zombie, which boasts little threat to your defense.

Zomboni:

A Zomboni-riding zombie with astonishing trampling power. When killed the Zomboni leaves a lane of ice behind him.

As you can see from this list, there is an extensive line-up of bad guys, this makes the game much better than many of its counterparts. With plants vs. zombies you always need to stay on your toes, and know which plants do the most effective damage to different types of zombies especially in the fog levels.

The Plants

Blover:

This plant blows away Balloon zombies as well as the fog, which will allow you to see the wave of zombies coming.

Cabbagepult:

These plants catapult cabbage heads at zombies. Cabbagepult should be planted on the roof, where Pea Shooters are unable to be planted.

Cat Tail:

This is an upgrade to the Lily Pad plant. The Cats Tail attacks balloon zombies in a similar manner to a Cactus. In addition, it can attack any lane due to its honing ability.

Cactus:

The Cactus plants most effective weapon is its ability to attack the balloons of the Balloon zombies, making them virtually useless.

Cherry Bomb:

An exploding plant that takes out many enemies that surround the impact. Cherry Bombs can only be used once and will disappear after use.

Chomper:

This plant eats smaller zombies, and it is useful for zombies that can make it over the Wall Nut.

Cob Cannon:

The cob cannon plant is an extremely strong upgrade for the Kernelpult. Cob Cannons can obliterate anything within a three patch grid of its impact point. Cob Cannons must be planted over two neighboring Kernalpults. Even though it is one of the most effective weapons it also takes a long time to regenerate.

Coffee Bean:

Coffee Beans wake up nocturnal plants during the day.

Doom Shroom:

Creates a mushroom cloud-effect and kills anything within a three patch-range on all sides. This explosion leaves a damaged patch in its wake and will render the patch unusable for planting more plants until it heals.

Flower Pot:

This tool enables plants to be placed on the roof. No plant can be planted on the roof without a Flower Pot beneath it. An additional bonus is that the zombie must eat the pot as well as the plant before he can proceed.

Fume Shroom:

A nocturnal plant, which is the best weapon against the Screen Door zombies and can hurt more than one zombie at a time.

Garlic:

Garlic makes zombies avert their path and move onto another lane.

Gatling Pea:

This is an upgrade to the Repeater, which allows double the fire power, shooting four peas at a time.

Gloom Shroom:

This upgrade for the Fume Shroom emits toxic fumes in a highly effective short-range attack.

Gold Magnet Shroom:

This inexpensive upgrade for a Magnet Shroom is useful if the player has a goal of getting a lot of gold in the level. Instead of being magnetic for attacking reasons, it simply collects coins and diamonds.

Grave Buster:

The Grave Buster eats graves (shocking!); However, it will not eat graves that are active.

Hypno Shroom:

When eaten by a zombie, the Hypno Shroom plant takes over the zombie and turns him on his own kind. The best use of a Hypno Shroom is on a large zombie, who can do the most damage, to the smaller zombies.

Ice Shroom:

This nocturnal plant freezes every zombie on the screen and deals a small amount of damage to them in the process.

Imitator:

This is a type of "Wild Card" plant that becomes whatever plant the player chooses it to be.

Jalapeno:

Jalapenos are exploding peppers that will destroy all zombies in the lane that it is planted.

Kernelpult:

Like the Cabbagepult, this plant throws corn cobs at the zombies. However, sometimes you will also see butter thrown. Butter is stronger than corn as far as defense goes because it temporarily incapacitates zombies.

Lily Pad:

The Lily Pad acts as a weak water based barrier. Zombies can simply eat them before passing, their delay is minimal.

Magnet Shroom:

Magnet Shrooms take metal items such as buckets, helmets, pickaxes, and screen doors from zombies. Although nocturnal, Magnet Shrooms may be woken up with a Coffee Bean in order to utilize them during the day.

Marigold:

Marigold is a non-attacking plant that expels coins for the gamers' bank account.

Melonpult:

The Melonpult launches watermelons at the zombies. The damage dealt is immense and this weapon presents the best killing power for its price.

Pea Shooter:

The foundation for the early levels, this is the most basic plant; however, it is also key to any strong defense, especially in the earlier levels.

Plantern:

Planterns allow players to see through the fog. The Plantern plant also carries sun power.

Potato Mine:

An underground mine that will explode and destroy all the zombies in its path, as well as the Miner zombies which will be tunneling underground.

Puff Shroom:

Free for your arsenal, these little guys kill zombies within three patches, but are only awake at night.

Pumpkin:

This is a barrier plant and can be placed on any plant to give it an impenetrable outer casing.

Repeater:

Essentially a Pea Shooter with twice the fire power. These plants also cost twice as much as the pea shooter.

Scaredy Shroom:

This plant is a terrific long-range fighter but cowers when zombies come within one patch of them, which makes them vulnerable. The best strategy for these guys is to put them at the back.

Sea Shroom:

This plant is the same as a Puff Shroom, except it can only be planted under water. Sea Shrooms take a very long time to recover.

Spider Rock:

An upgrade for the Spike Weed, Spider Rocks can pop multiple tires before it must be replaced, it also does more damage to on-foot zombies than the Spike Weed.

Spike Weed:

This plant attacks all zombies that pass over it. In addition, if a zombie vehicle passes over, it will pop the tires. However, this destroys the plant.

Split Pea:

Split Peas allow shooting from both the front and rear. A note-worthy distinction of the rear cannon is that it fires peas more rapidly than its partner.

Snow Pea:

Like its cousin, the Pea Shooter, these plants shoot frozen peas. These Frozen peas make zombies slowdown.

Squash:

The Squash crushes all zombies in a small area. Much like the Potato Mine except that it does not affect underground zombies.

Star Fruit:

Star Fruits shoot stars in five different directions. However, they do not shoot forward, so they are helpless against zombies attacking from ahead. Placing it behind other forward defending plants will help this conundrum.

Sun Flower:

Sun Flowers increase the amount of sun your garden will get. Sun is vital to the plants, to rejuvenate after use.

Sun Shroom:

The Sun Shroom is a slightly smaller, slightly less powerful, yet, also, slightly cheaper alternative to the Sunflower.

Tall Nut:

The Tall Nut is a more effective version of the Wall Nut, as it is larger in size. The Tall Nut keeps out Ladder zombies and takes a considerable amount of time to chew through making it a stern defense barrier against many types of zombie.

Tangle Kelp:

The Tangle Kelp can only be placed in water and is used to tackle zombie snorkelers and scuba divers. It wraps its tentacles around the zombie and pull its under the water drowning it!

Threepeater:

These plants shoot peas across three lines of fire. In addition, the peas from a Threepeater are stronger and do more damage than the Pea Shooter.

Torchwood:

Torchwood will ignite any pea that passes through its flame. Therefore, the Torchwood plant should be potted in front of any pea-shooting plant. The damage of a flaming pea is triple that of a normal one.

Twin Sunflower:

This is an upgrade to the Sun Flower, which allows two blooms per plant, thus doubling the sun power produced.

Umbrella Leaf:

This is a protective plant that covers neighboring plants from attack from the catapulting zombies and bungee-jumping zombies.

Wall Nut:

Wall Nuts prevent most zombies from being able to pass. The zombie must eat the Wall Nut in order to pass. This is a time consuming task since the Wall Nut has such a tough shell.

Winter Melon:

The Winter Melon is an upgrade to the Melonpult; this makes the melons a freezing attack as well.

General Game Hints and Tips

  • Begin most levels with two rows of Sun Flowers at the back of your line-up, this will be a base for regeneration.
  • Until you have two rows of Sun Flowers, only use funds to buy defense when needed.
  • Keep a bomb-type plant handy at all times, just in case.
  • Focus on keeping Wall Nuts and Tall Nuts healthy and whole whenever there is a free moment.
  • Shooting peas through the Torchwood makes them more effective.
  • If you have sun power to spare, in the later levels, send out the Grave Busters, as most zombies will be coming from graves at that point.
  • Do NOT accidentally hit a frozen zombie with a flaming pea. You will thaw them out.
  • Plant a Fume Shroom the minute you see a Screen Door zombie. The fumes penetrate the screen.
  • Killing Zomboni with a Jalapeno will also thaw out his ice trail; therefore, you will get no proceeding Bobsledders!
  • Magnet Shrooms are the best defense for Pogo and Digger zombies.
  • Killing Gargantuan before he throws his Imp is the best method you can use.
  • Dr. Zomboss can be attacked by your catapulting plants when he lowers his head. One of the best methods to kill him is to freeze him, this will give you plants more time to kill him.
  • There are also several secret cheats available to use throughout the game. These are activated when players type in the codes. Conversely, when the code is typed in again, it is deactivated.

SPOILER ALERT

(If you do not want to know the cheats do not read on, no caps locks required):

  • Future - Zombies wear stylish and futuristic sunglasses.
  • Moustache - The zombies grow moustaches Piņata - The zombies spray sweets all over when they die (for this cheat to be effective the Tree of Wisdom must be 500ft tall).
  • Tricked out - The run of the mill lawnmowers get pimped out!
  • Daisies - Zombies sprout flowers when they die (Tree of Wisdom must be 100ft).
  • Dance - Zombies start busting a move (Tree of Wisdom must be 1000ft).
  • Sukhbir - The zombies call out their battle cry for "Braaaaaaaaaaaains"!

It is clear the creators had a sense of humor when creating this game and the best aspect of the game is arguably the hilarious graphics. Add the aforementioned cheats to the mix, and there will be so much laughing that you will forget about the level.
